HISTORY:
The world health assembly endorsed World immunization week during its May 2012 meeting, Previously immunization was held on different dates in different regions but in the year 2012 for the first time 180 countries participated on the same day from different territories together.
VACCINES:
Vaccines are among the greatest advances of modern medicine. They have helped in reducing the child mortality rate across the globe
Edward Jenner was the introducer of vaccines in West in the year 1796 after he inoculated a 13-year-old boy with vaccinia virus Cowpox and demonstrated immunity to smallpox. Hence in the year 1798, the first smallpox vaccine was developed.

The aim of this theme is to unify people for a better healthy bright future.
PURPOSE:
Immunization can protect against 25 different infectious agents or diseases from infancy to old age including diphtheria, measles, pertussis, polio, tetanus including COVID 19 which is beneficial for a healthier society.
