PHYSIOLOGY:
The work of the Colon is to absorb water and salt from the remaining food matter after it has passed through the small intestine, the waste matter which is left passed from the colon into the rectum and’s stored there until it passes into the anus, sphincter around the anus keeps stored from coming out until they relax during the bowel movement.
Colon rectal cancer is nowadays most commonly seen in old age people which may hamper the normal physiology of colon rectum function which may further progress to dysfunction, there are a variety of causes that may lead to colon-rectal cancer some of these are mentioned below such as:
CAUSES:
- Polyps such as an adenomatous polyp, hyperplastic polyp, sessile polyp, traditional serrated polyp
- Dysplasia in polyp
- Inflammatory bowel syndrome-like chrome disease
- Diabetes
- Obesity

Usually, mucus is affected in these types of cancers.

Usually, the upper part of the GI tract is affected.

Neuroendocrine cells are affected.

GI stromal tumors:
Connective tissue, fat, cartilage is affected.

Primary colorectal lymphoma:
Lymphoma develops in the lymphatic system such as lymphocytes.

Leiomyosarcoma:
Usually, smooth muscle is the target for this type of cancer.

Melanomas:
This can occur anywhere in the skin of the colon and rectum.
